  YUGOSLAV ASSOCIATION OF GASTROENTEROLOGISTS

Yugoslav Association of Gastroenterologists was formed in 1964. The first president was Mihajlo Andrejeviæ MD PhD Prof. The first congress of Yugoslav gastroenterologists, organised by the Yugoslav Association of Gastroenterologists and presided expertly by the president of the organising committee president Laslo Kalai MD PhD Prof. from Zagreb, was held in Opatia in 1967. Thus, gastroenterology in the former Yugoslavia definitely became structurally organised which enabled co-operation with the European and world organisations of gastroenterologists.

After disintegration of Yugoslavia in 1991, the continuity and expert activity of the Yugoslav Association of Gastroenterologists was not discontinued in Serbia and Montenegro. Yugoslav gastroenterologic week, organised by Ðorde Klikovac MD, was held on Cetinje in 1993. Since then, this activity has been repeating every year.

Yugoslav Gastroenterologic Association (YUGA) is a member of:

OMGE (Organisation Mondiale de Gastro-Enterologie)
OMED (Organisation Mondiale de Endoscopie Digestive)
ESGE (European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy)
ASNEMGE (European Gastroenterology Association)
